Publication: ’Patria nostra’ film and book by Béla Nóvé published, 2016

In late 2016, for the 60th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian revolution, both the documentary film and book Patria nostra by Béla Nóvé were released in Paris, Budapest, and then in other cities. They are based on extensive research as well as filming over a five-year period, 2011–2016. Some of these screenings and book launches were also attended by the Hungarian veterans, the main heroes of the film and book Patria nostra.

Erich-Loest Award

On February 24, 2016, the day Erich Loest would have turned 90, the Media Foundation of Sparkasse Leipzig created the Erich Loest Prize for writers, preferably from the region. The prize is worth 10,000 Euros, and was awarded for the first time in 2017. Erich Loest was a founding member of the Media Foundation in 2001 and an active member of the foundation’s board. The prize is intended to make his literary estate, preserved by the affiliated Cultural and Environmental Foundation, more well known.

2017 the prize was awarded to Guntram Vesper for his novel Frohburg.

Rethinking Poverty: In Memoriam István Kemény. 2016. Exhibition

On September 27 and 28, 2016, the OSA Archívum organized a two day event entitled “Rethinking Poverty: In Memoriam István Kemény.” The adjoining exhibition displayed a selection of documents and photographic records from the cooperative endeavors of István Kemény and Pál Schiffer in the Galeria Centralis. Zsuzsa Zádori served as curator.

Digitalization of content

The Promethean Collection was digitized and put on-line in November 2016. The Institute benefited from support of Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, which dispatched Polish archivists and historians to process and describe the Collection.
